Location and directions
Walking from Pollock Halls
Walk straight into town towards the Pleasance and go past it down the hill to the lights. Go up St Mary's Street and turn left at the lights onto the Royal Mile. Carrubbers is on your right after John Knox House (15 mins walk, 3 mins from the Pleasance).
Bus
Any bus that goes along the Royal Mile or across the North Bridge will bring you to Carrubbers. If alighting on the North (or South) Bridge (locally known as "the bridges"), walk uphill to the Royal Mile, and turn down it towards the sea (East). Carrubbers is on the left in the first block, just before you reach John Knox House, and opposite the Museum of Childhood (2 mins walk).
Car
From the A720 city bypass, take the Straiton Junction and head for the city center. After a few miles you will pass the glass-fronted Festival Theatre on your left. Turn right at the next lights and go down the steep hill to the left. Go straight across the road at the bottom and up Blackfriar's Street. At the top, turn right onto the Royal Mile and Carrubbers is on your left. Parking is available on the street or in the multi-storey Crowne Plaza across the road. Other multi-storey car parks are nearby.
Train
Leave Waverly Station up the main entry ramp and turn left at the top. Go straight across the mini-roundabout, and up the curved Cockburn Street to the Royal Mile. Turn left downhill and cross the next junction. Carrubbers is on your left in the next block, just before you reach John Knox House, and opposite the Museum of Childhood (5 mins walk).
Air
Edinburgh International Airport has daily flights across Europe and the UK. The AirLink Bus (about £4 per journey) is available to the left of the terminal as you exit. Take it all the way to the terminus on Waverly Bridge, outside Waverly Station. Go downhill towards the mini-roundabout and follow directions as above for rail arrivals (5 mins walk).
