The Institute of Biblical Studies is a two year Bible training programme based on the principle of guided home-study. Students meet once per month for lectures (second Saturday of every month from October to June) and are given assignments for home study to be completed throughout the month as their own personal time and schedule permit. The programme includes core courses in Bible Doctrine and Bible Survey along with courses in Principles of NT Greek, Church History, Hermeneutics, Evangelism, Missions and Apologetics. The stated purpose of the IBS is to "train and equip the saints for the work of service" (Ephesians 4v12) and the programme is open to anyone inside or outside of Carrubbers who is keen to learn more of the word of God and the God of the word.
Knowledge
Most of us know that our knowledge of God's Word is not what it should be. No doubt we have all struggled to put biblical events into historical perspective, but we often end up in the wrong place with the wrong people during the wrong time period.
Understanding
We may had been discouraged from studying theology because we cannot understand the terms or are unaware of what the true issues are.
Communication
It may be that we are unable to adequately articulate the finer points of the Christian faith, dialogue with other faiths, or present the Truth with confidence and skill.
Learning Gaps
If you are serious about your faith, such learning gaps cannot be filled with Sunday services and a mid-week Bible study.
Institute of Biblical Studies is organised by Ken Bell and overseen by Pastoral Elders.
