Music

Carrubbers' Music Ministry supports a singing group, band and instrumental group for the services, as well as supplying soloists and other musical items for our services and events.

Carrubbers Music Ministry is an exceptionally active church music programme. We have opportunities for people in small music groups, as well as large ones in both vocal and instrumental music. Carrubbers has a long history of Christian music in the city that dates all the way back to Moody and Sankey!

Events that we have organised in the past have ranged from classical recitals with gospel epilogues to evenings of black gospel music. The Gospel Nights are now produced as a joint church venture by the Origin Ministry.

If you are a Christian, and wish to be involved in the Lord's ministry in a local church; exercising your gift for the glory of God, look no further. We only want committed people so, if you are prepared to make serving the Lord in this area a priority in your life, speak to us. We operate under some guidelines which provide for a stable and consistent witness and ministry within the centre.
If you would like to get involved, email us or speak to somebody at one of the services - they're bound to point you in the right direction!

Acoustic band
The acoustic band at Carrubbers is responsible for accompanying the worship at the morning service. There are about 15 of us at the moment and we meet before the service to pray and practice.

Band
The band is responsible for the accompaniment of the morning and evening worship. In the morning, the rehearsal is with the orchestra and in the evening, with the singers.

Singers
This group, consisting of between 10 and 15 singers, is responsible for leading the worship in the Sunday evening service. Rehearsals with the band before the evening service are supplemented by a two weekly meeting for prayer, bible study and general fellowship where new songs can be chosen and practiced.

Soloists
If you can sing a tune, and you have a message to give, and a love for Jesus in your heart, we can use you. Course, you got to be able to sing the tune in tune...

Pianists
If you can play the piano or organ, we can always use you. There are at least three services a week that required piano accompaniment of some description - and that doesn't even include the special events.

Behind the scenes
You don't have to be musical to be in the music ministry! We always need people as librarians, administrators and cleaner- uppers.

Music is organised by Sarah Sholl and overseen by Colin Dyer & Eric J Scott .
