'Open Streets' on 6th October 2019
This City of Edinburgh Council initiative creates pedestrian areas in the heart of the city on the first Sunday of the month.
The Royal Mile will be closed to traffic from 11 am, reopening by 6 pm. Public events will run in the street between noon and 5 pm. You can find more information here. Please note that parking in the side streets adjoining the Royal Mile is suspended from 7 am.
Pastoral Note: Frustration won't enhance your worship. We recommend planning your journey and parking in advance, leaving home early, and entering into the spirit of the event. Try taking the bus, sharing a ride, parking elsewhere, or walking to church if possible.
Community Engagement Note: Take a moment to read Jeremiah 29. Are we investors or consumers? What does it mean for us to 'seek the peace of the city' and specifically, how can we be a force for good in the town we call home? How can we use the pedestrianised streets for Good News events? Is there a way to become Good News People to the council staff in their effort to make Edinburgh a safe and pleasant place to live?
Change is inevitable, frustration is not. Maybe there is a gift in this?
There is access for blue badge holders and for other drivers who are helping elderly members of the congregation or someone with mobility issues. If possible please email email@example.com to give advance notice; this would include your car registration number and details of where you are driving from to access the area.
