The Sermon on the Mount

Reconciling Wrongs 5:17-26

Task Discussion
  1. Explain how verses 17-20 act as a summary and explanation for the following verses, 21-48.
i.e. What principle is given in vss 17-20 that is specifically explained and delineated in vss 21-48?. (especially in the passages, "You have heard it said. but I say to you..")
  2. Looking specifically at vss 21-26, what is it about anger that makes it the internal characteristic most closely associated with the outward act of murder?
  3. Considering the context, what might it be in v23 that "your brother" has against "you?" What is the relationship between unresolved conflict among believers and our worship/ relationship with God?
  4. Why is reconciliation among Christians so important?
  5. Why is reconciliation among anyone so difficult? What can we do to make sure it happens?
