Bible Reading

Genesis 1:26-30; 2:18:25; 3:1-23; 1 Corinthians 11:1-3; 1 Timothy 2:8-15; Ephesians 5:18-33

Prepare yourself for our time together by looking over and being prepared to answer the following questions:

  1. What does Genesis 1:26-30 teach us about the origin of the sexes and something of God’s purpose in the distinction between male and female as a reflection of the image of God?
    • What light does 1 Corinthians 11:3 shed on this?
    • What do the following verses tell us about the relationship of God the Son to God the Father, and how do you think this might relate to male and female being created in the image of God? John 3:17; 4:34; 6:38; 12:49
  2. According to Ephesians 5:18-33
    • How does a clear understanding of Jesus saving work help both men and women to function as God intends in their relationships (esp. marriage)?
    • How does a man (husband) fulfil his responsibility to a woman (wife)? What is God telling a man to do… and what is God NOT telling a man to do?
  3. How do the words LeadershipProvisionProtection help to define the creative purpose of God for men in general, and for men in their relationship to women in particular?
  4. How do we relate to, and apply, these principles as:
    • Husbands
    • Fathers
    • Unmarried men
    • Men in church
    • Men at work
  5. What are some of the primary forces in our world today that are working against God’s principles for Godly Manhood and Womanhood? How can we counteract these forces and live as men of God?
