If you have no idea what Room 65 is, then there are other "outward facing" pages that explain all about it; this page is all about how to get involved. The event requires a lot of people doing a lot of different roles to make it happen. The majority of these helpers come from the church membership, but others are very welcome to join us too. In 2007 we had 3000 through the doors which clearly requires a lot of man power to make sure they are comfortable, but most importantly engaged with the gospel either directly by conversation, or indirectly through the very act of being in a church amongst God's people for an evening. You don't have to have any specific skills to be involved, nor do you need to commit to being there every night or for a whole night. You just need to be willing and able.
So to put it bluntly, we need you! If you are interested, then follow these steps to sign up:
1 Choose your team(s)
First of all, you'll need a website login if you don't already have one. Signing up for one is quick and free, you just have to fill in three boxes! You can then visit the My Groups page and read through all the Teams that start with "Room65". Beside each team you'll find a short description about what resposibilities each team has, and a "Join" link to join the team. You can join more than one team if you like, and if you aren't sure, or don't care which team you are in, then join the "Room65AnyRole" team.
2 Tell us your availability
Getting involved doesn't mean you have to be there every night, and we are keen to make sure that when you do turn up, there is plenty to keep you busy but not too busy, to make you know how valued you are to the running of Room 65. To help with the administration of this, shortly we'll be publishing details about how you can let us know when you are available.
3 Add the dates to your diary
Room 65 2008 runs from Monday 4th until Friday 22nd August, excluding Sundays. You will generally need to be available from about 7:15pm, and the cafe usually finishes by 11pm. Please block off as many dates as you can in your diary to help. This will make the job of scheduling who is needed for each night as easy as possible. Be sure to update the availability online should things crop up which will mean you can't do a night that you previously said you could do. By default we'll think you are free for all the nights.
4 Keep checking your email
Each of the teams has an email list associated with it, so we'll hopefully keep you in touch with all that's going on through email and through announcements on Sundays.
